Jackson also implemented a principle he called rotation-in-office. The previous custom had been for the president to leave the existing appointees in office, replacing them through attrition. Jackson tossed all of the Swamp Creatures to the curb.
Exactly 200 years later, Donald J. Trump is attacking rampant government corruption with all of the piss and vinegar of the fiery Andrew Jackson. Not merely taking a page from Jackson's playbook, Trump is doubling down and ripping the festering, rancid rot out of the corrupt DC machine.
